Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 with her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the internet, including her self released single Bound. The track Sweat it is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. The following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some possible references for Rihanna. The news was released on December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she recorded together with Cozz for her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was supported by EarthGang. In 2018 she guest-starred on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. In November, she dropped two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on November 13 with the titles Pedigree and One. The singer appeared alongside Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16th, and made the track available in a solo version on her first album. In February, her music video to this track debuted. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views within a week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK during the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
