Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) better known by her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first album titled Pho in the month of October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 with her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the internet, including her self released single Bound. The track Sweat it is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. The following year, her music circulated all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some possible references for Rihanna.
